Wincanton Records Management invests in new fleet: December 2011
With yet more cold weather predicted for the 2011/12 winter, Wincanton Records Management (WRM) has invested in a new fleet of all wheel drive vehicles. The investment comes as a result of the heavy snowfall during the past two winters, leading to adverse transport conditions which made information management deliveries and collections more difficult than usual. WRM was able to maintain a near normal service throughout these conditions and is taking measures to ensure this precedent is set to continue.
The vehicles possess the same handling abilities as a 4 x 4, so that if the predicted snow does fall – or the client is in a remote location – regular service can be maintained. What’s more, the all wheel drive function kicks in automatically, so no special training is required, which means all of WRM’s drivers will be able to utilise the fleet. Again, this will serve to alleviate disruption to client servicing and ensure ‘business as usual’ for all clients.
The vehicles have also been chosen off the back of their green credentials and can do more miles to the gallon than a normal 4 x 4 vehicle. WRM’s high level of security is also installed on the new vehicles, including dual key control, remote immobilisation and satellite tracking, so WRM can guarantee the safety of its clients’ documents.
David Woolley, Development Director of WRM, comments: “We were thrilled to receive such positive comments from our clients last winter regarding our consistent service despite the treacherous weather conditions. In some cases, we were the only service provider to make deliveries and maintain service levels. Not only does this purchase prove we are willing to invest to ensure excellent customer service, but it will also increase the safety of our drivers, which is of paramount importance to us.
He continues: “We understand that our clients need access to their records, regardless of the weather conditions, and we are confident this new fleet will help us ensure minimal business disruption even in the worst cases.”
Snow ploughs have also been purchased at the nine state of the art records management centres across the UK. These will ensure constant access for the new all weather vehicles, as well as assist local businesses near the nine locations to clear their sites when required.
WRM stores more than 20 million documents in total, ranging from criminal records to world war reconnaissance photographs. They provide a full end-to-end records management solution which manages and cares for records from creation through to secure destruction and every step in between.
